World data · 192 countries · updated October 2026
Internet use by country
The percentage of each country's population using the internet, ranked — the infrastructure layer underneath every claim about digital childhood.
United Arab Emirates leads the 192 countries ranked here on internet use at 100%, followed by Kuwait at 100% and Bahrain at 100%. The median country is Mexico at 81%, against a world average of 68%.
What this measures
The share of the population using the internet, from ITU data.
What it does not
It counts users, not quality or cost of access. A country at 60% may have very different bandwidth, price and reliability from another at 60%.
The bottom of the table
Bars are scaled across the full observed range (0.0% to 100%), not to 100%, so the real spread is visible.
How the values are spread
Where the 192 countries fall
The range from 0.0% to 100% is split into 10 equal bands, and each bar counts the countries in one band.
| Band | Countries | Including |
|---|---|---|
| 0% to 10% | 2 | South Sudan, North Korea |
| 10% to 20% | 10 | Ethiopia, Madagascar, Malawi and 7 more |
| 20% to 30% | 8 | Sudan, Burkina Faso, Somalia and 5 more |
| 30% to 40% | 15 | Togo, Angola, Mali and 12 more |
| 40% to 50% | 11 | Gambia, Nigeria, Haiti and 8 more |
| 50% to 60% | 8 | São Tomé and Príncipe, Honduras, Senegal and 5 more |
| 60% to 70% | 16 | Ghana, Gabon, Indonesia and 13 more |
| 70% to 80% | 22 | Vietnam, British Virgin Islands, Algeria and 19 more |
| 80% to 90% | 42 | Kiribati, Lithuania, Montenegro and 39 more |
| 90% to 100% | 58 | United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain and 55 more |
How this is built: each band is one tenth of the gap between the lowest and highest value; a country is counted in the band its value falls in, and the top band includes the highest value. Countries with no comparable figure are left out. Chart drawn with Apache ECharts.

Reading the table
Almost everything written about Generation Alpha and Generation Beta assumes near-universal connectivity. This table is the check on that assumption.
Saudi Arabia and Norway sit at 99%, Sweden at 98%. At the other end, Afghanistan is at 18%, Ethiopia at 19% and Mozambique at 22%. The global generational narrative — AI companions, algorithmic feeds, always-on childhood — describes the first group accurately and the second group barely at all.
Côte d'Ivoire is the entry to notice. It has more than 1.6 mobile connections per person and 44% internet use. That is a mobile-first childhood with limited data access: the phone is there, the connection is rationed. Reading the two columns together tells you something neither tells you alone.
For anyone building or marketing for these cohorts, this is the column that decides whether a product is possible at all.
Frequently asked
Which country has the highest internet use?
Saudi Arabia and Norway, both at about 99% of the population.

No. Several countries have more than one mobile connection per person alongside internet use below 50%. Connections are not the same as affordable data.
How many countries are in this table?
This table ranks 192 countries with a comparable figure, out of the 194 countries profiled on AlphaBetaMinds. The countries in this table hold about 98% of the world population.
