Pupil-teacher ratio
Pupil-teacher ratio is the number of pupils per teacher in a school system.
Against class size
They are not the same. Pupil-teacher ratio counts all teaching staff including specialists; class size counts children in a room. Class size is almost always the higher number.
It is the ratio that determines teacher demand as a cohort changes.
