Digital literacy
Digital literacy is the ability to find, evaluate and use digital information critically — not the ability to operate a device.
The gap
Most children can use a phone before they can read. Very few can explain how a recommendation feed decides what to show them, or reliably tell an advertisement from a search result.
That gap, rather than screen hours, is what most digital-literacy curricula are trying to close.
