Glossary
Secondary completion rate
Secondary completion rate is the share of the relevant age group completing lower secondary education.
Why it is the number that matters
Enrolment counts children who start. Completion counts those who finish. The gap between the two is where cost, distance, early work and early marriage do their damage.
The range across the countries profiled here runs from about 18% to about 98%.
