Demographic dividend
Definition
Demographic dividend is the economic boost a country gets when its working-age share peaks and dependency is low.
The window
It opens when fertility falls but the previous large cohort is still of working age, and it closes as that cohort ages.
For most of Africa and parts of South Asia, the window opens in the 2030s and 2040s — exactly when Generation Alpha and Generation Beta reach working age.
