Crude birth rate
Crude birth rate is births per 1,000 people per year, without adjusting for the age structure of the population.
The word "crude"
It means unadjusted, not inaccurate. Because it ignores age structure, two countries with identical fertility behaviour can have very different crude birth rates simply because one has more people of childbearing age.
For comparing countries, [[Total fertility rate]] is almost always the better measure.
