What is measured and what is modelled
The number of Generation Beta children alive is modelled, not counted. No country reports births in real time and no global register exists. We apply UN World Population Prospects birth rates to elapsed time since 1 January 2025 and subtract infant mortality.
The cohort total of 2.1 billion is McCrindle's projection and assumes births hold near current levels. A sustained 1% annual decline would take roughly 130 million off that figure.
