Net migration rate
Definition
Net migration rate is immigrants minus emigrants per 1,000 people per year.
Why it appears on country pages
For several high-income countries it is the only reason the child population is not falling. Australia and Canada both hold their under-15 populations roughly flat on very low fertility, entirely through migration.
