EU Age Verification App Tracker by Country

Where each EU country stands with the EU age-verification app, and which national rule already makes websites check age, dated row by row.

Quick answer

As of 18 October 2026 Denmark is the only EU country with an official age-proof app built to the EU standards (AltID, since 3 June 2026). Six other frontrunners are still working on theirs, and the Commission asks every EU country to offer age verification by 31 December 2026.

Frequently asked

When will the EU age verification app be available?

Denmark's version, AltID, has been available since 3 June 2026. The Commission expects the rest of the EU by the end of 2026, and its 29 April 2026 recommendation asks every country to make age verification available by 31 December 2026.

Why are websites asking my age in Ireland?

Ireland's Online Safety Code requires video-sharing platforms under Irish jurisdiction that allow adult-only content to use effective age assurance, and from 21 July 2025 just ticking "I am over 18" is not enough.

Does the EU age verification app share my identity?

No, according to the Commission. The app proves only that you are over an age, such as 18, using zero-knowledge proof; the website does not get your name or birth date.
