Meeting Cost Calculator
Attendees times hours times hourly cost — the number that ends a recurring meeting no one can justify.
A weekly hour-long meeting with 12 staff at a £30 hourly cost consumes 216 staff hours and around £6,480 a year — meaning every minute of it costs the school £6.

Frequently asked
What hourly rate should I use?
Salary plus employer on-costs divided by paid hours. For a mid-scale classroom teacher in most systems that lands between £25 and £40 an hour. Using take-home pay understates the cost by roughly a third.
Does this include the preparation?
No. It counts time in the room only. Meetings that require reading a pack beforehand or writing minutes afterwards cost meaningfully more than this figure shows.
What is a reasonable target?
There is no published benchmark worth quoting. The useful test is per-meeting rather than per-year: could this have been a shared document, and if so, what did the room add?
