Disadvantage Funding Impact Tracker
Spend against measured outcomes for a named strategy, with cost per pupil per unit of impact made visible.
A raw gain of 9 points is only 5 above the comparison group, and £18,000 of funding becomes £27,360 once staff time is counted — about £684 per eligible pupil.

Frequently asked
Why compare against a non-eligible group?
Because pupils make progress regardless. Without a comparison, ordinary maturation and teaching are counted as the effect of the strategy, which is the most common weakness in funding impact statements.
Should staff time be counted?
Yes, and it usually exceeds the cash line. A strategy consuming twelve staff hours a week for thirty weeks costs around £9,000 in time before any spending, and leaving it out makes cheap-looking strategies look cheaper than they are.
What if the effect is zero?
That is a finding, and acting on it saves a year. The alternative — reframing the outcome measure until something moved — is common and costs pupils the time.
