Ireland Childcare Cost Calculator 2027

Estimate your monthly childcare bill in Ireland now and from September 2027, with the Budget 2027 fee caps and the €2.50 NCS universal subsidy.

Quick answer

From September 2027 the NCS universal subsidy in Ireland rises from €2.14 to €2.50 an hour for children up to senior infants, and Core Funding fee caps fall, so a 45-hour full-time place costs at most €550 a 4-week month instead of €735 (Budget 2027, 6 October 2026).

Frequently asked

Is my childcare bill really falling to €550?

Only if your provider is in Core Funding, your child is up to senior infants, and you use 40-49 hours a week with 45 hours of universal subsidy. €550 is gov.ie's figure for a 4-week month (€137.50 a week). If your fee is already below the new €250 weekly cap, your saving comes only from the higher subsidy.

When do the Budget 2027 childcare changes start?

In September 2027, at the start of the next programme year. Until then the universal subsidy stays at €2.14 an hour and the current fee caps apply.

Do the new childcare fee caps apply to every creche?

No. They apply only to providers in Core Funding (Core Funding Partner Services). Providers outside Core Funding can set their own fees.

Does the €2.50 subsidy apply to school-age children?

No. From September 2027 it applies to children in early years, junior infants and senior infants. Children in first class and older stay at €2.14 an hour, although the lower fee caps apply to them too.
