Homework Benchmark Chart
The ten-minute rule by year group against typical reported homework, and the point at which the gap becomes a school conversation.
The ten-minute rule sets homework at ten minutes per school year per night — 10 minutes in Year 1 rising to 40 in Year 4 — and anything more than about 45 minutes above it is a workload conversation with the school.
